OpenPowerlifting is a group of volunteers archiving the history of powerlifting and building cool and helpful things, like the Lifter Rankings. The goal is to remember every lifter at every level of the sport across every federation, and bring them all together. All the data and code are released for free! Their umbrella of projects is always expanding and offering new tools to the powerlifting community.
I first ran across Open Powerlifting on Reddit. After realizing how important their work was, I reached out to them. Over time, I have been able to contribute to the various projects they are developing. I helped openpowerlifting.org with some basic design tweaks to increase readability and make the site easier to browse.
OpenLifter is an open source software project designed to help with the running of powerlifting meets and data reporting. The new UI was designed to replace the traditional tool – an Excel file used as a hybrid meet software/rankings/scoresheet. OpenLifter’s design solves many problems including: next up loading, automatic saving, full offline functionality, audience readable text and instant exportable results. A logo was also designed for the new project.
The IPF Points Calculator is a tool to help lifters calculate their IPF Points score based on the current formula. The UI was designed to be easy to use, accommodate all lifting types and work with all devices.
